It was an eventful morning for Claremont with the Smiths still in Denmark, Becky Webster celebrating her 100th parkrun and a family ‘wedding parkrun’ for Lena Lou.
A group of Claremonters, and a host of other friends were then to help Becky celebrate, and she gave the story of her 100 Saturday morning runs (and many more times volunteering): “I started running to help my dad keep doing something he loved after his heart attack but in that time I’ve improved my own health, joined a running club, found a community and had a lot of fun. We crossed the line together in my first and 100th parkruns. I’ve shown up in the heat, rain, hangovers and in the middle of festivals but I’ve kept showing up. Movement is a privilege and I’m very grateful for running. Thank you for all that turned out to celebrate.”
Lena was at a celebration of another sort, running with family and friends: “My sister’s wedding parkrun at Sedgefield was great fun!”. Of course, she celebrated with a course PB!
There was also a PB for Tara Hipwood at Jesmond Dene, with 2nd place finishes for Harry Mawdsley and Nicki O’Brien.
Ann and Eddie rounded off their European tour with another Copenhagen parkrun, and there were a few others on their travels within the UK. Lucy Keating was furthest from home down in Devon, and Jim Crinnion was also down south at Oxford. Rose Hawkswood and Rachel Hurdman were also running away from home.
