A hot, sunny Bank Holiday weekend – whatever next? Luckily it was a bit cooler in the North East than further south especially along the coast, though I for one appreciated the warmth as I was volunteering at Blyth!
As could be expected on a holiday weekend, there was a bit of tourism. Chris Jones was our one international traveller, zooming around Kagerzoom in the Netherlands – and stayed on to do an extra parkrun on the Monday! Chris explains:
“The Dutch special extra parkrun is on Whit Monday, so this made a great opportunity to have a long weekend away and do two beautiful courses with a very friendly Dutch welcome. We did Kagerzoom on the edge of Kagerplassen lake on Saturday – who wouldn’t want to run twice past this windmill?! Nearby Leiden was stunning, cross-crossed with beautiful canals. On Monday we did Delftse Hout, two laps of a very hot lakeside beach followed by some cooling woods, and took the opportunity of Delft being just a few minutes cycle away to explore before heading for the ferry home. Hope everyone who’s doing the trip to Zuiderpark in June has as much fun (and as good weather)!”
Sarah Kerr returned to Keswick, Luke Woodend was at a favourite of his – Delamere in Cheshire – while the Wards and Alex Taylor were in Yorkshire; Lucy and Rob at Thorp Perrow, Alex at Wetherby.
Tara Hipwood has been in a rich vein of form lately, and continued her good run with the only PB of the day. Well done!
