On a weekend when the North East becomes the focus of the running world, our local parkruns welcome visitors from all over the country, if not the world! So for many of us it meant a volunteering stint or a gentle jog to keep the legs loose for the big one on Sunday.
While the world came to Tyneside, Antony Darne went to South Africa! The trip was worthwhile too, as he ran a course PB in Cape Town. Elizabeth O’Mahony didn’t quite travel so far for her run in North Wales, while Claire Taylor and Chris Jones also had away days, though nearer home at York and Ambleside respectively. JIm Crinnion and Tara Hipwood were also “away”, but on familiar ground in Leeds and South Wales (where Tara also got a PB).
Another on the PB trail was Laurie Johnson, who ran a course PB at wet and windy Silksworth.
