Claremont Autumn Club Handicap (31st October 2011)
A surprisingly mild evening, with a steady breeze, greeted a good turnout of runners for the Club Autumn Handicap on the Quayside.
Catherine Young headed to field home for a fine win to pick up the Cup; Alan Hansell finished strongly as a clear 2nd, with Randy Ballesteros claiming a well-deserved 3rd place on the night.
Tom Tinsley added a 19th place to his excellent series over the previous 3 races to gain the Shield for the best Aggregate Points Score (last 4 handicaps). Tom will have to work hard to retain the Shield at the next handicap, with Paul Robinson (2nd), Gordon Macfadyen (3rd=) & Sarah Bowen (3rd=) in close attendance.
The fastest run of the evening was recorded by Brendan McMillan (21:48), with Chris Gillis (23:31) & Matthew Kingston (24:42) also producing excellent times.
Vanessa Butler was the fastest lady (26:57), just two second ahead of Megan Murdoch’s (26:59) finishing time.
A hearty thank you to all the volunteer officials & marshals who once again enabled the event to progress smoothly – an enjoyable evening was concluded with refreshments, a presentation and post-race discussions at the Café de Vie.
