GU36 – The Guernsey Ultra, 15th May 2022

Nina Jensen and Marie Slack have been on a trip to the Channel Islands to have a run around the island of Guernsey. The GU36 is described on the website as: “The circular route starts in the picturesque town of St. Peter Port before leading on to 16 miles of beautifully rugged cliffs. From here it is fairly flat going along the west coast, where you will enjoy the view of the sweeping bays and beaches.” Sounds idyllic if it wasn’t 36 miles long!

In Nina’s words:

Marie and I did GU36 at the weekend. 36 miles following the coastal path around the island. It was a race of 2 halves with the first 16 miles being coastal steps along the cliffs then the last 20 miles were a mix of sand dunes, cinder paths and road. It was well organised with really well stocked check points and a fantastic way to explore the island (although there is also a bus that follows a similar route should you not fancy running it!) I did it in 8.25.59 and Marie in 9.07.47,

Well done, ladies.
