Gosforth Summer Relays, 31st July 2022

Three Claremont teams competed in the Gosforth Summer Relays at Newcastle Great Park on Sunday morning.

Conditions were pretty good for a short 2 mile race: Overcast but not overly warm, with the earlier rain having mostly eased off, the odd burst of light drizzle notwithstanding. The course is a kind one, mainly on flat tarmac paths (though with a slight incline toward the end), beginning and ending on a playing field.

No prizes or podium finishes on this occasion, but the Claremont contingent did themselves and the club proud, with everyone agreeing it had been a canny event with a good atmosphere. Great credit to Gosforth Harriers for organising.

Special mentions to Margaux Robin and Jose Gallego Parilla, turning out at their first event in Claremont colours, Mary Martin for heroically stepping in as a last minute replacement, and Joyce Zhao for showing up in the role of official Claremont photographer, complete in club vest!
