Hamsterley Forest Running Festival, 16th October 2022

The latest event in the ‘It’s Grim Up North’ running calendar took place in Hamsterley Forest today, beautiful clear skies and cool temperatures should have made for good running conditions, with the trees hopefully alleviating the stronger gusts of wind.

Anyone who’s ventured over to Hamsterley for any kind of run will know it involves hills. Followed by more hills. Steep ascents and descents in equal measure, not necessarily for the faint-hearted.

Margaux Robin (accompanied by a friend making their competitive race debut) was up in the 10k, posting a fine time and missing out on 3rd lady by a single second!

Nina Jensen did manage to claim a podium finish, taking 3rd lady in the marathon event, as part of her ongoing mission to run further than the rest of us put together this year. This was Nina’s 2nd marathon in two weeks, after her stroll round the somewhat flatter environs of Kielder Water.
