It was a busy parkrun Saturday this week with Claremonters across the two Newcastle courses (Jesmond was unexpectedly off) and Ben Hardy celebrating his 50th parkrun at Town Moor, while Julie Cross got a course PB at Leazes!
A newly established group of parkrun tourist enthusiasts had nine of us trying out Jubilee parkrun over in Spennymoor in a successful first group outing. A lovely group of volunteers provided a warm welcome with the first-timers briefing given by a member of Crook and District AC celebrating his 100th parkrun (between the two clubs we made up almost half of the runners there that day), and the remaining volunteers all donning Pudsey ears and fundraising for Children in Need (with our own Gill and Lena joining in). A small park with 3 and a half laps making up the 5k varied terrain course (on a muddier day trail shoes would probably be advisable) which took us through a bowling green, a skatepark, a football pitch and a playground with a miniature zip line that provided much entertainment post run.
Our recently emigrated French runners Fréd and Lucas have firmly arrived in Australia and marked it by representing Claremont at parkrun over at South Beach Recreation Reserve in South Fremantle.
