Hot & Cold Half Marathons, 22nd January 2023
Two Claremont Road Runners ran half marathons today, in slightly different climates.
Izzy Neatrour took on the Kirkhale Shepherds Trail in literal freezing conditions, finishing as 3rd lady in a time of 1:43:24, in a race around the icy Northumberland countryside that took the runners out to within sight of Colt Crag reservoir before heading back. There was another 3rd lady finish for Sophie Douglas in the slightly shorter 10k, clocking 50:40.
In contrast, Michael Teasdale could be found on the island of Madeira, running in the Funchal Half. Michael posted a time of 2:02:59, with temperatures creeping into the relatively tropical teens. In his words: “It was canny, surprisingly not too hilly for Madeira. Interesting doing two separate loops, and there were a few very short sections on cobbles, but on the whole was good.” Michael has since sent us a very good race report – see here.
