Whilst a number of us took the morning after the Blaydon Race as a good opportunity to volunteer, there were plenty more who donned their Blaydon t-shirt at the local parkruns. With their being no Town Moor event for the next couple of weeks, attendance was swelled at other locations, with Leazes having more than twice their usual quota of runners.
As well as the local runs, there was a lot of tourism this week- up the coast at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, west to Keswick, and south to Hackworth in County Durham, the beautiful Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire and Penrhyn Castle in North Wales. Even Margaux tried a new parkrun down under.
The standout performances came from Jose Gallego and Holly Porter with PBs at Leazes and, after an excellent run the night before, Roberto Marzo continued his warm-up for “The Wall” by setting a new PB at Prudhoe.
