Along with the wind, there was a celebratory air at Leazes Park where both Lena Lou and Laurie Johnson notched up their century of parkruns – encumbered by balloons and all the extra runners avoiding being blown over on the Town Moor! Lena and Laurie weren’t the only Claremonters celebrating at Leazes Park, as Holly Porter, Rachel Hurdman and Eddie Smith all ran course PBs. Laurie doesn’t just run at parkruns, but he is a frequent volunteer too at both the Saturday morning 5K events and the junior parkruns on Sunday. He finished a memorable parkrun weekend by being presented with a volunteering certificate to mark the 8th anniversary of the Town Moor Junior parkrun (29 times volunteering there to date).
Also seeking shelter from the wind, and also having something to celebrate, were Isabel Neatrour and Sophie Richardson. Both got PBs and Izzy finished as 1st female. A few miles up the Tyne Valley, Sarah Kerr was 2nd lady at Tyne Green.
There were just a couple of sky blues running outside the North East this week … Alex Anslow was on familiar territory in Norfolk, while Jim Crinnion had his first outing running around the racecourse at York.
