Alnwick Trail Half-Marathon, 26th May 2024
Chris Jones sends this report from the Alnwick Trail Half:
“The rain had stopped falling from the sky but there was a lot of it on the ground at the start of this multi-event day with a junior 2k, 5k, 10k and half marathon all taking place within the beautiful Hulne Park estate in Alnwick. The start/finish straight was a mud bath worthy of cross country, the next few miles were spent dodging deep puddles on stony tracks, then tarmac which made the long drag uphill at 3 to 4 miles slightly easier, followed by a very pleasant downhill trail to complete a roughly 6 mile loop. One lap for the 10k, two plus a little out and back for the half. I can thoroughly recommend this event for the fantastic views that helped to distract me from the fact that it really felt quite tough!”
However, Chris wasn’t the only Claremonter Road Runner taking part. He was joined by Lucy Ward, who had this to say: “Loved it. Nice to be back on the trails, albeit road shoes were fine. Love the hills.”
