Cheviot Challenge Long Run, 31st August 2024

Nina Jensen (who else?) has been out running again – this time in the Cheviots.

“Organised by Trail Outlaws on behalf of Northumberland Mountain Rescue this is a running and walking event with 3 options of route. Long – billed as 22 miles but Arwen is still causing issues so only 20 (short!), 14ish and a fun distance of 8 miles. The walkers set off early then runners at 10 which means company all the way around. Also all routes start together and branch off so you end up waving goodbye to people mid sentence as they head on another route.

The weather was glorious and the route was a lot more runnable than some other events I’ve ran around here. The bogs were still present in parts though despite the drier spell we’ve had (Quote of the day from a lady hiking the other way: Mrs Bucket posh voice – ‘Bloody more bogs, I thought water was supposed to run down hills so how the %@#£ is it still here!) ?’) However I was having great fun trying to skip over them and at one point was championing The Lonely Goatherd (although they were actually sheep). Great fun!”

Well done, Nina.
