A few runners may have been resting ahead of Sunday’s Great North Run, but there were still plenty of Claremonters out parkrunning in the mist, instead of (or in some cases in spite of!) participating in the world’s largest half marathon.
Niamh Garratt was back down at Markeaton in Derbyshire, improving on her course PB, while Rose Hawkswood debuted at Fulham Palace in London. Everyone else stayed pretty local, with Chris Jones spreading his wings the furthest, running at the deceptively named Flatts Lane south of Middlesbrough, often ranked in the top 10 hardest parkruns in the UK.
The only other PB this week came for Jim Crinnion at the Town Moor, who perhaps surprisingly didn’t see an influx in attendance prior to tomorrow’s race. One reason for this could be that most of the tourists were hunting a ‘J’ for their alphabet, the numbers at Jesmond Dene more than doubling anything they’d experienced in August!
