The cold blast that spread across the country caused numerous parkruns to be cancelled , including the planned Claremont tourist trip to Newbiggin-by-the-Sea (again). However a number of local events did go ahead, so most of us could still get our parkrun fix.
The wintry conditions were hardly conducive to running fast times, but that didn’t stop Cate Walker, Rose Hawkswood, Mark Anderson and Anton Mirafsari from collecting course PBs. In Mark’s case, it was also a winning time at Chopwell Woods, where Sarah Kerr made it a double by finishing as 1st lady. Niki Szlovak was 2nd lady at Riverside.
This week’s tourism was largely due to festive visiting, with Chris Jones making the longest trip – to the south coast at Lee-on-Solent.
