We woke up this Saturday to a very cold, miserable, grey morning, so parkrun was the perfect way for some of us to banish those weekend winter blues! For others, it was an extra hour in bed to rest before the, equally cold, damp and grey, relays at Hetton Lyons Country Park.
One bright note was the long awaited return of Whitley Bay parkrun following the disruption to the course caused by the creation of a new cycleway. Peter Henderson and Lena Lou were our only attendees, and Lena celebrated with a course PB – forgetting that she was supposed to be taking it easy before running in the relays later in the day! Lena’s was the only PB of the day, though Heather Steel ran well to finish as 2nd female on her first outing at Blyth Links.
It was also a quiet week for tourism. Anton Mirafsari and Chris Jones ventured slightly south into County Durham and Jim Crinnion was once again at Rothwell in Leeds, where he is a frequent visitor.
