Berlin Half-Marathon, 6th April 2025

Aoife Monaghan and Jack Shawcross were in Berlin to run in the half-marathon. It is fair to say that they had different views on their race.

Despite running 1:19:07, Jack was disappointed, saying “Not sure where my fitness has gone but it’ll come back – I hope. Grind just to keep it respectable.” I think Jack is being hard on himself – most of us would love to run that fast at peak fitness!

Meanwhile, Aoife was much happier: “Longest run since my DNF at Seville and admittedly I’d lost quite a bit of confidence in my running as a result, so the main goal for this today was to get around and enjoy it and I absolutely loved it. Would have liked to have picked up the pace but it was too busy and I wasn’t able to get around people.
Still super happy though.” Aoife’s time was 1:54:18.
