Roberto Marzo made the Town Moor parkrun this weekend into a family affair by running with his daughter, Elena. They completed the course together in 26:31, which is amazing as Elena has only very recently had her 7th birthday! Well done, Elena, you’ll be faster than your dad soon. It will be great to see you in a Claremont vest in a few years time.
At the other end of the age spectrum, Joyce Archibold is still going strong in the VW85-89 category. Joyce ran at Sandringham, where Norfolk-based ex-Claremonter Alex Anslow also had a run to enjoy as she clocked up a course PB. There were others on the tourist trail too. Alex Harding was tail-walking in his native Sheffield; two sky blues in Leeds – JIm Crinnion is a frequent visitor and this time went to Temple Newsam, while Yue Zhao (Joyce) ran in Roundhay Park; Claire Taylor in Darlington; Julie Cross was on familiar ground in North Wales, and Tara Hipwood returned to Penallta in South Wales where she picked up a course PB. Antony Darne is still in South Africa, and this time popped up in Cape Town.
Nearer home, Lucy Ward claimed a PB while finishing as 2nd female at Blackhill. The PB Queen, Lena Lou, was at it again, this time at Herrington Country Park. There were also PBs at Jesmond Dene for Rachel Hurdman and Ann Smith.
