Gateshead Half Marathon, 4th May 2025

A chilly morning but not too bad for running, and there were good performances from the Claremont trio of runners. The running machine that is Mungai Wairia shows no signs of slowing down, and he posted another impressive run to finish first in his age category. Lena Lou was very happy to have run a half marathon PB, and had gone under the 2 hour mark on her own watch, only to have that achievement cruelly taken from her by the official time of 2:00:07. Don’t worry, Lena, it is coming – those 7 seconds will soon disappear! Francesco Carrer finished between them.
