Wallington 10k, 16th July 2025
Another mid-week 10k for Nina Jensen:
“This was the first event that Run Nation ever hosted back in 2010, and after a 6 year hiatus was back on as a mid week race. I’ve done this event a few times and was excited to see it was back on the race calendar so signed up.
The course is described as hill with a fast downhill start and finish, with a few undulating sections in between.
About 120 runners waited at the start seeking shelter under the trees on what was another warm Wed evening. At 7:30 after a short briefing we were off down the hill from Cambo village, past the grounds of Wallington Hall and then a left turn towards Middleton. The road flattens out at this point and there are lovely views of the countryside and surrounding farmland.
About 2.5 miles in we have another left turn up to Scots Gap with a steady climb. There’s also a water station at this point and many runners chose to grab a cup of water and chuck it over their heads!
Reaching about 4 miles again we took a left turn on the road between Scots Gap and Cambo. This road is deceptive as its a very gradual climb of about 250ft over about a mile but it was relentless especially in the heat and I was grateful when we turned back into Cambo village for the (mostly) downhill last mile before turning into the Wallington estate and a finish under the clock tower clock.
Post race we were given a bottle of water, snack and a medal and sat on the lawn under the shadow of the Hall to watch the rest of the runners coming in and celebrate the return of this event.”
Well done for running in the heat, Nina. Nina came 1st in her category in a time of 48:10!
