DK Mile, 1st August 2025
The penultimate run in this year’s DK Mile series took place at a grey and blustery Blyth Beach. In a reversal of recent trends, a northerly breeze meant a reasonable headwind had to be tackled during the first half, but as we rounded the bandstand, that same gust would be ushering us down the straight toward the finish line.
Returning after missing July’s edition, Mark Anderson was also encumbered by a support-clad niggly-knee, and his slower time, though still mightily impressive, was perhaps understandable.
With just September to go, Mark is joined by young Charlotte Kerr in topping the leaderboard as fastest in their age categories.
Charlotte had another great run, though her nearest rival was missing this time out, so with the lack of someone breathing down her neck, and the wind blowing in her face, she also didn’t quite match her PB, but certainly stormed down the promenade like there were medals on the line!
Making it a family affair, Sarah Kerr came out to run her first mile of the year, defying her own recent injury crises to run a more than solid effort, that saw her only 7 seconds shy of the leading time in her category!
| Runner | Time |
| Mark Anderson | 5:12 |
| Laurie Johnson | 5:32 |
| Sarah Kerr | 6:19 |
| Charlotte Kerr | 7:05 |
