Another sunny Saturday morning, another nice day for a parkrun, another spread of Claremonters around the country … and abroad! Though “touring”, Liz Denyer, Alexia O’Rourke and Arthur Liu were on home soil in Wolverhampton, Lincolnshire and Cumbria respectively. Antony Darne was in his native South Africa, this time in Cape Town where he became the 2nd Claremont Road Runner to run at Greenpoint.
Beverley Westwood might sound like a cabaret singer, but it is in fact pasture land full of grazing cows on the outskirts of Beverley in East Yorkshire, and home to an interesting sounding parkrun – one that attracted Holly Porter. Also on his travels was Alex Taylor, who collected a “Q” at Queen’s Park in Glasgow, Lena Lou went on an adventure, setting foot in the wilds of Wales for the first time in her life. Well, not exactly the wilds, but Erdigg, a National Trust property near Wrexham.
However, outdoing them all was Helen Ingham who rocked up at Perrigo parkrun, which is on the outskirts of Seattle in the USA!
Back home, James Fowler celebrated his 100th parkun at Leazes, and Catherine Young had the very familiar feeling of being 1st lady at Fulwell Quarry. Catherine’s time was also a course PB, with the two other PBs coming on coastal courses – Julie Cross at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea and Peter Noble at Blyth, despite being encumbered by pushing a buggy!
