Christmas Party, 8th December 2025
After the customary Christmas Lights run, Claremont Road Runners headed to the City Tavern for this year’s party. It was a new venue, which worked well, but the evening contained the now familiar items. Following the buffet, there was the quiz, featuring questions on the past year for the club and local races, with most amusement (and bewilderment!) caused by trying to identify fellow club members from photos of them as children. It is fair to say that some were more difficult than others.
The legendary Joyce Archibold then presented the Colin Archibold trophy to this year’s winner, Sarah Kerr, and Nina Jensen was victorious in the draw for this year’s club place in the London Marathon. Being the marathon machine that she is, we can all feel confident that Nina will wear the sky blue with pride around the streets of the capital.
As usual, the highlight of the evening was the Personality of the Year awards, presented by the consummate professional that is Jamie Harding. Amongst other topics, this year saw awards for most loyal runner, scariest runner, most romantic runner, identity theft, best tour operator and making light of your troubles, before the overall winner was declared to be Shilpa Iyanna – our very own supermodel.
Many thanks to everybody who helped on the night, contributed raffle prizes etc, but especially to Anna Round for all her hard work in making the event a success.
