Peter Noble’s 50th parkrun at Leazes ensured a good turnout of sky blues at our “home” event. Peter didn’t hang around to wait for any of them though, finishing in a more than respectable 12th place! The O’Briens weren’t too far behind, with Nicki recording a course PB. That was the only PB of the day, though there was one other performance of note- at Gateshead, where Heather Steel ran with daughter Piper, who became the latest of the Claremont kids to make an impressive debut running the full 5K; Fantastic running, Piper!
Lena Lou and Yana Bevan warmed up for the NECAA Cross-Country championships by heading to Middlesbrough early and having a steady run at Flatts Lane. Niamh Garratt joined them to offer support. Further south, Lucy Ward ran at Oxford and Gill Milne was at Rickmansworth on the outskirts of London. It looks like a really scenic course on woodland paths around a lake, but unfortunately it was so foggy, visibility was reduced to a few yards!
Aoife Monaghan headed in the other direction to sample Northumberland’s newest parkrun at Kirkharle Courtyard, and Ailsa Ralph travelled further north still to run at Faskally Forest near Pitlochry in Scotland.
