parkrun, 20th December 2025

Despite the cold, murky weather, there was cause for celebration on the Town Moor as Claremont and parkrun legend Mungai Wairia completed his 500th parkrun. Mungai is also a frequent and enthusiastic volunteer, so that 500 milestone t-shirt is well deserved. There were 10 other Claremont Road Runners there to keep him company, though numbers were reduced with the Saltwell 10K being later that morning.

Elsewhere, Cate Walker and Laurie Johnson were at Delamere Forest – familiar territory for Cate, but this was Laurie’s first chance to sample the scenic ‘A’ course as opposed to the brutal ‘B’ course. So naturally he got a PB. There were also PBs for Heather Steel at Herrington, where she finished as 2nd female, Aoife Monaghan at Blyth Links and, of course, Lena Lou at Rising Sun.
