Middlesbrough Half-marathon, 1st March 2026

Two Claremont Road Runners took on the Middlesbrough Half this Sunday. Described as a “fast and flat half marathon, taking runners right into the heart of Middlesbrough, showcasing the very best of the town’s landmarks and community spirit. Starting in Centre Square, outside the Town Hall and the MIMA gallery, the fully road-closed route heads out through the beautiful Albert Park before sweeping past the home of Middlesbrough FC at the Riverside Stadium.”

Despite this description, the first 5km of the route actually saw a steady climb in elevation, before a lengthy downward incline, followed by mostly flat as promised for the rest. Harry Mawdsley and Alex Oliver-Evans both took advantage of the favourable course to come away with PB’s, Harry finishing in 37th out of over 3,500 finishers, and Alex well inside the top 30%. Well done both!
