Grasmere Gallop, 30th May 2026

Part of the Lake District Running Festival, the Grasmere Gallop is actually a series of “Gallops” spread over the weekend, with races ranging from 5K to 42K. Sarah Taylor chose Saturday’s 17K option. This is what she thought of it:

“Probably more like Grasmere trot! Hardest run I’ve ever done, but 100% worth it for the beautiful views. Really hot, and definitely have massive fear, amazed by anyone who can maintain a run on that terrain. Managed to get all the way round Loughrigg and fell over on the way back down to Grasmere Lake. Really hard, really warm but beautiful.”
