Blyth Links 10K, 1st September 2026

As is now the custom this race, although organised by Blyth Running Club and being open to all their members, is also the first race in the North Shields Poly Grand Prix series of races. Following last year’s trial, the course was once again run as a short loop followed by a longer loop, along the sea front at Blyth and on the paths through the dunes.

Before the run, we were presented with special red t-shirts along with our numbers, and asked to wear them for the race in honour of the Grand Prix founder and to mark the 40th Anniversary of the event, So it was a sea of red that set off along the promenade, past the beach huts, around the Dave Stephens Centre and along the road to the dunes.

Holidays, work, sickness and injuries meant that there were a number of absentees from all three of the Claremont teams, but each team should have managed the requisite number of counters. For the 16 that could run, it was a decent night for running – there is always a breeze at the coast, but as this was coming off the land, it was mainly across us. This made for some good times, an enjoyable race and a most pleasant evening.
