There was plenty of local action at parkrun this week, though we had 3 tourists making notable trips abroad. Before this Saturday, if you’d asked me where Donaupark was, I’d have said “it means nothing to me”. Whereas now, after David Lydall’s visit to Austria, my response would be “oh, Vienna!” (if you can’t shoehorn a clunky, 45 year old music reference into a parkrun report, where can you?)
Somewhat further south, Brian Hegarty travelled to a sun-drenched Palermo in Sicily, while considerably further still, Antony Darne picked up a course PB on his return to Green Point in Cape Town.
The tourism back in the UK was restrained by comparison. Luke Woodend and Niamh Garratt were at opposite ends of Yorkshire, journeying to Northallerton and Rother Valley (Sheffield) respectively. Still on her Welsh sabbatical, Tara Hipwood ran at Penallta for the fourth consecutive week, and sixth time overall, so arguably can’t really be considered a ‘tourist’ there any more!
Our other PB’s this week came for Aoife Campbell and Yana Bevan at Jesmond Dene, and Summer Lackenby at Town Moor.
