Hamsterley Forest Winter Trail 10K, 13th January 2024

Izzy Neatrour sends this summary from County Durham:

Team: Izzy, Kim and Kim’s visiting brother Carl.

Weather: Ideal – sunny, warmish (for Jan) with no wind.

Course: Two miles of fairly steep uphill followed by pleasant descent. Mostly gravel paths but some more rocky and muddy sections to keep it interesting.

Crowd: Well wrapped up and rucksacked.

Swag: Event mug, fruit, gels, sweets and surprisingly tasty soup. No landfill tat (rucksacks!) as per Greener Miles ethos.

Prizes: Izzy (1st woman) – Greener Miles voucher and buff, headtorch. Kim (3rd woman) – Green Miles voucher and buff.

Unusual point: Seeing the Canicross race start before our run. Massive pack of dogs dragging along their humans in this unusual but watchable sport.
