It was a special day at Leazes parkrun as it marked the graduation ceremony for the 5 ladies who have completed the inaugural Claremont Road Runners’ Couch to 5K course. All 5 – Kim, Elaine, Sarah, Lois and Elizabeth – have worked incredibly hard since first venturing out with us on a cold, dark, miserable night in January. They have made great progress and today completed the 9 week programme by running the 5K at Leazes Park. I am sure that you will all agree that this is not the easiest parkrun in the region, having a fair climb on each of the 3 laps.
There was an excellent turnout of Claremonters to make sure they did it offer encouragement and support. I would like to thank them all on behalf of the lasses – I think the support of the club helped them all to exceed their expectations. Afterwards there was a celebratory coffee and presentation of certificates at Central Bean.
Sarah Kerr, Maria Duenas, Lucas de Rosa and Ay Okpokam also had reason to celebrate at Leazes – Sarah finishing as 1st lady with Maria, Lucas and Ay getting PBs.
Elsewhere, there was a PB for Laurie Johnson on the Town Moor and it is great to see Dave Wotton running again after a long lay off with injury. Dave made his parkrun return as a “tourist” at Chester.
