Angel View Run, 1st June 2023
Less than a week after her seaside adventure, Lynne Cornell was the sole Claremont Road Runner taking part in Low Fell RC’s annual Angel View Run this Thursday evening:
“I’d never done this race before, so thought I would give it a go. It is advertised as ‘consisting of two laps on a range of different terrain.’ The different terrain includes grass (lots of it), tracks, road, woodland, and a tunnel under the A167! No sand though this time!!!! Also quite undulating-more so than the Alnwick trail run.
Collected our numbers from race HQ, The Angel View Inn, then a 10 minute walk to the start. Some regard 1st June as the first day of summer, but it didn’t feel like that last night as we walked to the start and it even started spitting onto rain. Everyone was keeping fleeces on until the last minute – 5 minutes before the start a huge pile of jackets appeared next to the start line.
The rain and the sun stayed away and we were treated to a lovely run which does indeed have great views of the Angel. 2 laps which starts with a run uphill on grass, then alongside the A167, through a tunnel under the A167 up more grass and tracks near Harlow Green, down the hill on tracks, back under the tunnel into a wood arriving back on grass near the start for lap 2.
A great medal and a pencil as a memento – the latter is a first for me! Back to the Angel View Inn for a buffet laid on by Low Fell Running Club. Plates and napkins ran out, so running numbers came in handy for holding sandwiches and crisps!!! A really good evening.”
Lynne earned her sandwiches, completing the 9km course in 46:25, well done Lynne!
