Jarrow 10K, 1st October 2023

The Jarrow 10K is a new event in the North East running calendar, organised by our friends at Jarrow & Hebburn A.C. Starting and finishing at Monckton Stadium, a fast, flat course was promised. Judging by the performances of the 3 Claremont ladies who entered, the event lived up to this promise.

There were 10K PBs for Holly Porter and Jenny Roberts, with Holly smashing the 50 minute barrier by a full minute! Coming in between the two of them, Liz Denyer had a disappointing end to the race – nothing to do with her running, but it can’t have been enjoyable following a runner who had evidently lost control of his bowels on the final lap of the track! I think we will leave it there …
