Jason Hall, England International

This weekend will see the Copenhagen Marathon take place and it will be a momentous occasion for former Claremont Road Runner Jason Hall.

Jason ran with us whilst he was studying in Newcastle, but moved to Leeds at the end of his course. This was initially a tough time for Jason as it coincided with the coronavirus pandemic, but he started training with Leeds City Athletic Club as soon as he could. Leeds are currently blessed with a number of elite athletes and Jason has had the opportunity to train alongside the likes of Emile Cairess and Phil Sesseman, both of whom will be representing Great Britain at the Paris Olympics.

It has been a pleasure to see, mostly via Strava, Jason’s progress and all his hard work has now been rewarded with a call-up to represent England in Copenhagen. Read about his selection here.

Thankfully Jason has not forgotten his roots. He is still a member of our Sunday Runday WhatsApp group, where he posted this message on hearing of his England selection:

“Hi all, just wanted to share some exciting news. I’ve just been picked for England for the Copenhagen marathon in May, first international vest. Just wanted to say a big thank you to Tom, and all of you guys at Claremont. It’s where my journey started and appreciate the support from you all ?”

Not sure what I did to help, Jason, but I, and all of your ex-Claremont colleagues, are very proud of you. Well done!
