Heaton Memorial 10K, 10th November 2024
The Heaton Memorial 10K is firmly established in the North East racing calendar, taking place every Remembrance Sunday. AS usual, the runners lined up at 11am and, following an impeccably observed 2 minutes silence, set off for 2 laps of the Town Moor.
Conditions were good for the 8 strong Claremont contingent, overcast and a bit chilly, but a reasonable temperature for running. There was a bit of wind to contend with, but, then again, this is the Town Moor! At the end, everyone seemed happy with their times, especially Roberto Marzo and Tara Hipwood who both claimed 10K PBs.
There were prizes up for grabs for the first 3 in each age group, and Sarah Kerr was successful, finishing 3rd in her category. Narrowly missing out were Heather Steel and myself, both 4th, and Lucy Keating who was 5th.
Earlier, Charlotte Kerr had donned her Claremont vest to run in the Under 11s , 1 kilometre Mini-Moor race.
