Food Bank Run, 24th February 2025
For the 3rd consecutive year, we supported the Food Bank Run, which is a national initiative that encourages the running community to support their local food bank. The idea is that clubs organise a run to their local food bank, with each runner taking a donation.
It is not practical for us to incorporate passing a food bank on one of our Monday night runs – nor could we carry all our donatiions! So, organised by our social conscience, aka Cath Robson ably supported by Anna Round, we collected donations for a couple of weeks before the run, then carried a symbolic can at the start of our Chillingham Road run, delivering them to the boot of Anna’s parked car!
Cath sorted it all and delivered 63kg worth of goods, plus 2 bags of nappies, to the Newcastle Food Bank the following day.
Massive thanks to all who took part in this year’s Food Bank Run – donating, running and collecting – but especially to Cath for going above and beyond the call of duty! Great work everyone!
