Run Through London 10K, 23rd February 2025

It is good to see Catherine Young running well again (following injury and childbirth!). This weekend saw her taking on the challenge of a 10K race in London. Here is what she said:
“I ventured to London for my first 10K in a couple of years after being persuaded into signing up by my old Uni friends. Still not feeling fit enough to do a 10K justice, I did question why I was making my way to the Olympic Park at 7:30am rather than enjoying a relaxing brunch somewhere.
The event is only in its second year and there was also a half marathon running at the same time. For me, it was the ideal set up for a race; very well organised and about 1000 participants but a friendly atmosphere and no standing around in pens for a prolonged period. The route was one lap on closed roads taking in part of the Olympic park whilst circling West Ham’s stadium and also fairly flat which was another positive. I would have liked a lap around the Olympic track but had to settle for a few around the warm up track outside the stadium.
It was a shock to the system pushing in a race but I enjoyed it and was pleased to finish as 9th female with a post-daughter PB of 43:53. Overall, an enjoyable, friendly race in a good location that doesn’t take itself too seriously but with PB potential.”
ASs well as being 9th overall, Catherine was 2nd in her age group. Well done!
