Coquet 10K, 29th June 2025

MIchael Teasdale ventured to Rothbury for this scenic, but challenging, 10K. He summarised it as:
“The Coquet 10k was a race that made me feel old, partly because I’ve somehow ended up in the 40-44 category and partly because it’s the first 10k race race where I’ve gone over an hour (Stanhope Trail doesn’t count in that respect). The race had a bit of a crazy start as the first kilometre was all downhill, dropping around 50m. Almost all of that elevation was then regained in the next 500m. The out-and-back route then took the small field of runners (41 in the 10k) on undulating but picturesque country roads heading west from Rothbury before returning to finish on the riverside path. It was definitely more challenging than I anticipated and the weather, whilst great for admiring the views, contributed to that.”
He was only just over the hour – and it was hot as well as hilly! Michael finished in 1:00:10, which gave him 24th place.
