DK Mile, 4th July 2025

The 4th mile of the 2025 series rolled around this Friday, with familiar, blustery south-westerly winds providing opposition on the promenade.

With neither of the fast lads present to resume their rivalry, the ladies seized the mantle, taking centre stage in style. Aoífe Monaghan shaved a whopping 15 seconds off her PB from last month, the results of relentless graft clearly on display.

Young Charlotte Kerr matched her June time exactly, despite the windier conditions and having already run both a 600m and relay race at school sports day that morning. She also impressively retained her fastest girl crown, holding off a robust challenge from a North Shields Poly junior to take victory by 3 seconds.

I was pleased to knock a further 5 seconds off from last month, a 12 second overall improvement since May. With 2 runs left, how much faster might we all go?!
