It was a smaller than usual band of Claremont Road Runners that made there way down to Darlington for this month’s designated tourist outing. The seven of us who did go found a good welcome and an enjoyable three lap course around a very nice park.
Back home, with no Leazes parkrun this weekend, we also had seven runners at both the Town Moor and Jesmond Dene. No PBs at either location, but there was a third place finish for Sarah Kerr on the Moor. Pbs were thin on the ground generally, so well done to Antony Darne at his regular haunt of Riverside and to Alex Harding at Denton Dene.
We also had runners at all points north, south, east and west. Chris Jones was a long way north in the Orkney Islands, with Claire Taylor also in Scotland to gather a “Q” in Glasgow. Aoife Monaghan was on the west coast where she was 2nd female at Workington, and Whitley Bay counts as east!
Heading south, Laurie Johnson was at Sheffield Castle, where there isn’t actually a castle, and Lucy and Rob Ward were in the Midlands at Tamworth Castle, where there is! Lucy Keating was also in the Midlands, following in Rose’s footsteps for a jog around Edgbaston Reservoir.
Joyce Archibold made the pilgrimage to Bushy Park, where she achieved the highest age grade out of a massive 1925 runners. Did we expect anything less? Well done, Joyce, Claremont Road Runners is proud of you!
