It was a good day for comebacks and milestones at parkrun this week. 6 days on from finishing 5th in the over 80’s category at the Great North Run (despite being just a year short of her ninth decade) Joyce Archbold was back running her first parkrun in a year and a half at Town Moor. Meanwhile, Julija Simpson popped up at Leazes for the first time in four and a half years.
Also at Leazes, Harry Mawdsley quickly got bored of his planned tempo run, acceleratng over the second half to finish in 1st. Stealing the limelight, Claremont second-claimer and Leazes run director Dave Nolan finally reached 100 parkruns, after well over a decade of commitment to the cause.
Cate Walker and Nicki O’Brien claimed 3rd lady at Blackhill and Whitley Bay respectively, with Sarah Kerr taking 1st at Druridge Bay, Anton Mirafsari recording a course PB alongside her. There was also a trio of PB’s for Kimberly Metson and Eddie and Ann Smith Gateshead.
After a 7 year parkrun journey that has seen her volunteer more than double the number of times she’s run, Cath Robson hit the 25 milestone at Finsbury Park, her 3rd consecutive parkrun in North London
Our only overseas runner this week, Izzy Neatrour was 1st lady and 2nd overall at Salento in sunny southern Italy, where the local team provided homemade cakes and coffee post-run!
